Ms. VH made me who I am today as much as I made myself. I last got an opportunity to see Ms. Van Hunnick at my wedding where she joined and got to see myself and my bride. She was a blessing for all who knew her. In Judaism there is saying may their lives have been a blessing and for Ms. VH it definitely was that. I recently had the opportunity to return to the Holiday Inn in Oxnard, where I experienced one of my first leadership trainings as a Section Officer, and as I worked that week, I actually saw myself doing similiar things that I had done almost 13 years prior while part of FBLA. The number of people Ms. VH impacted will never be known because, as we go out in the world we are impacting more and more, she was a force multiplier in all the sense of the world.

We will miss you Ms. VH.

Your touching post charts a lot of the same feelings I have about Ms. VH. She taught me so much. "She was a fighter..." I remember she was so proud of those signed Muhammed Ali boxing gloves in her office.

I also remember one time at an officer training retreat she was giving a speech about the importance of professionalism and went off on a tangent, talking about how she knew how much all this meant to us...she just started crying.

She was so genuinely good and a real sparkplug. She always treated us like equals and brought out the best in us. She gave me the chance to learn what true leadership and character are all about. Really one of the most influential people in my life.

I'm pretty sure you've heard, but Ms. Van Hunnick's memorial service location has been changed to the performing arts center at JFK. :)

Rey, you captured Ms. VH so well. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and memories. You and all the upperclassmen FBLA officers inspired me too and I feel so privileged to have worked with her and everyone in our organization. Take cares Rey :)
